Summary: Great backup cell phone
Comment: I got one of these in case something happened to my regular cell phone. Turned out it was needed, and it worked so well, I got another one to put away in the event that something goes wrong with this one.
A great little phone for the money. Unlocked is great too. Sometimes no frills is nice. I am really pleased with this purchase.

Summary: Reviews are right on the money
Comment: As most reviewers have noted, this is a basic phone with a lot going for it. It is cheap and unlocked. It's small and light. The battery life is excellent. You get at least one bar in most places and usually a lot more, so I'm saying it detects a signal very well. Most importantly, no dropped calls as of yet. That's a biggie for me. My motofone f3 dropped calls and that is why I replaced it with this Nokia.

If you just want basic features to make/receive calls and text messages, you'll be very satisfied with the Nokia 1600. I took one star off because I'd like to see still better signal strength. I have an old Nokia 6061 which seems even better in that department.

Summary: Great for the Price
Comment: If you are looking for a decent-unlocked cell phone this is a great one. I purchased it when my Sony Ericsson Cybershot broke and am using it until the new iPhone comes out. Big ups for Cingular/ATT for being intelligent enough to have SimCards so I didn't have to go through the store to make the change.

Summary: Nice Piece
Comment: Fantastic! can't ask more for the price I paid.
Voice is clear, light weight, battery recharge is quick and last really long and this piece comes with hands-free set(wired).

Summary: Nokia Cell phone
Comment: The Nokia 1600 cell phone that I purchased did not accept some of the telephone numbers that I put into the phone book. I didn't think it was any better than the cell phone I have which is an old Nokia.

Editorial Reviews:

Featuring a color display with up to 65,536 colors, speakerphone, changeable faceplates, and polyphonic ringtones, this basic GSM phone is not to be overlooked.

Changeable faceplates and a brilliant color screen make the 1600 a great mobile companion.
Design
At first, the 1600 looks like a mild-mannered candybar phone. Looks can be deceiving, though. The 96 x 68 pixel display, which features support for 65,636 colors, gives the user a crystal clear screen, which makes it easy to type text messages and place calls. An internal antenna means there's nothing to snag in your pocket. The simplified menu and navigation with 4-way scroll key and easy-to-use key pad make for easier phone calls and text messaging.

Calling Features
The 1600's address book can store multiple phone numbers, as well as physical and email addresses. Meanwhile, the phone's built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are included, as is a vibrating alert. Ringer IDs let you assign specific ringtones to particular callers. Name-based voice recognition dialing lets you dial numbers with the sound of your voice.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The 1600 is a natural mobile messaging companion with support for text and picture messaging. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Imaging and Entertainment
The 1600 is designed for flexible mobile fun. Full color screen savers can be set up to fit your personality. And don't forget that the 1600 comes with three of the following games: Snake Xenzia, Dice, Cricket Cup, Pocket Carrom, Soccer League, Adventure Quiz, Rapid Roll (selection is area dependent).

Vital Statistics
The Nokia 1600 weighs 3.0 ounces and measures 4.09 x 1.77 x 0.67 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 450 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM 850 and 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
