Summary: Tinny sound and poor quality
Comment: OK, I knew from the reviews that the sound would have "sss's" with speaking. So I set the iPhone to "spoken word" and it seemed to help. But then the cable connection apparently broke at the junction with the plug. No rough handling, just average like with other buds I have. This Griffin did not last three weeks.

Summary: Awesome headset. Unexpensive and useful.
Comment: For a lot of users that have bought the IPod Touch like me, and have felt a little left behind for not being able to have recording options, say no more. The Griffin TuneBuds is Awesome.

Unlike the hacked mics that plug into the charge port(not available for the 2g anyway yet) the Tunebuds is very lightweight. The ear buds themselves are very stable in your ear, it does not come off easily like most of us have experienced with the IPod earphones (very bad). ItuneBuds does come with different size buds. It is almost total noise isolating. The cord is nylon, unlike anything I have ever seen before. It's different, I'don't know if it's better, but I've noticed it is easier to untangle than a regular rubbery cord.

Now the Mic is the greatest feature of this device, and I love it for being so unexpensive and cool looking. You can use Griffin's app for the Ipod touch, or any other voice recording app. Most of which are free from the app store. One I highly recommend is Evernote.

The recording quality of the Mic is great, it's not perfect but it sounds like a cell phone call. Pretty great for the price. I use it a lot to create little reminders and to - dos. I can name the files whatever I want and choose what quality recording I would like. Very nifty.

The button on the Mic works as a control for your music player as well. Hit one play/pause. Twice skip forward, 3 times skip backwards. I just love being able to do that without having to tap my way into the music player everytime I need to skip a song or pause for a second. It works from any application you're in as long as the application doesn't have music audio (youtube, tap tap revenge) The music stops automatically.

Now the thing that I bought this mic for and really Amazes me for the coolness of being able to do it is making Voip calls with it. I use it with skype and wlm to make call when I'm on a hotspot. That works like magic it's unbelievable and I love that. The people tell me they can hear me well and that makes me proud of my purchase.

I really see no cons for this device. You should buy it.

Summary: Fair headphones at a fair price
Comment: I destroy Apple headphones - I've probably killed a half a dozen over the years in "usual" wear. I wear them a lot. They actually fit in my ears OK, sort of just hanging there. But I break the wires, usually sooner than later. I'd used Griffin products in the past with mostly good results so I tried a set of these. They were an improvement over the Apple 'phones in isolation, comfort, and durability. Are they audiophile-quality? No. Unless you get a very tight fit in your ears you can lose a lot, particularly midrange. I listen to more audiobooks and podcasts on my phone than music, so that's not much of a problem.

However, after about 5 months I experienced what other reviews have - a break in the wire down by the plug. For me, 5 months is a long time, so they were better than the alternative. I still wish they would be more durable, though. I'd like to actually break 6 months with one set of headphones!

Summary: Nice, but with a fatal flaw
Comment: I'm happy with the quality of this headset but I've just lost my second pair to the same problem - the wire breaks near the connector. I've never has this problem with any other pair of earbuds or iphone headset before.

Summary: Feel better but sound worse than Apple earbuds
Comment: These earbuds are much more comfortable and stay in my ear better than the ones that came with my iPhone. With three sizes of soft rubber tips, these should fit most people.

They seem to be of decent construction with a fiber coating on the cables and I like the black better than Apple white. The microphone has a single small button that is more difficult to find by feel than Apple's. They also come with a nice little zippered case that makes them easy to carry without tangling the cables.

Unfortunately the sound is really poor. The treble is exaggerated and the bass is nearly non-existent. They sound OK for voice calls and podcasts, but music lacks clarity and sounds like it needs a major EQ adjustment. The sound quality is bad enough that I considered returning these, but for the price, I think I'll keep them as a spare.

If you're not picky about how your music sounds and want something inexpensive that are much more comfortable than the stock earbuds, these are not a bad buy. If you listen to much music on your iphone, I recommending looking elsewhere and probably spending more.

Editorial Reviews:

Listen. Talk. Control. TuneBuds Mobile combines the powerful lows and crisp highs of Griffins TuneBuds comfort earphones with Griffins new ControlMic - a high-sensitivity microphone and control module - to give you great sound and iPhone control in one.
